Acknowledging God
Acknowledging God
In all thy ways acknowledge him... —Proverbs 3:6
God numbers our steps (Job 14:16; 31:37). He orders our steps (Ps. 37:23). He knows the way that I take (Job 28:23). Since God is so intimately involved in my ways, I should therefore acknowledge Him in all my ways! I should acknowledge God in my communications… in my relationships… in my purchases… in my schedule… in my recreation… in my decisions… IN ALL MY WAYS!
When Nehemiah was asked by King Artaxerxes, “For what dost thou make request?” Nehemiah immediately “prayed to the God of heaven” (Neh. 2:4). No one in the palace noticed that quick, instant, silent prayer Nehemiah shot up to God. He didn’t kneel or bow his head. Nehemiah needed God’s wisdom before answering the King. He was being “instant in prayer” (Rom. 12:12). Nehemiah was acknowledging God in how he should answer the King’s question!
How many mistakes would we avoid if we would first acknowledge God in all our ways before we act?
