Show Me Thy Hands
Show Me Thy Hands
“…he shewed them his hands and his feet.” —Luke 24:40
Three days after Christ’s crucifixion, the disciples are in hiding for fear of the Jews. Suddenly, Jesus appears unto them and they are terrified (Luke 24:37). Jesus shows them His hands and feet. The Bible says, “Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord” (John 20:20). Th sight of those nail riven hands dispelled their fears and doubt and they were comforted and encouraged.
Have you ever felt like these disciples—doubting… discouraged… fearful… filled with anxious thoughts? It is during those times we all need a fresh glimpse of the Lord Jesus — who He is, and what He has done for you. His hands tell the whole story!
Lord, when I’m weary from straining,
And burdensome seem Thy commands,
If my load should lead to complaining,
Lord, please show me Thy Hands—
Thy nail-pierced Hands, Thy cross-torn Hands,
My Saviour, show me Thy Hands.
Christ, if ever my footsteps should stumble,
And I be tempted to retreat,
If desert or thorn cause me to grumble,
Lord, show me Thy Feet—
Thy bleeding Feet, Thy nail-scarred Feet,
My JESUS, show me Thy Feet.
O GOD, dare I show Thee
MY hands and MY feet?
