Greatest Mystery of All
1 Timothy 3:16
Our text is one of the greatest verses in the Bible on the deity of Christ—Jesus Christ is God in the flesh! (John 1:1, 14).
This one salient verse of Scripture covers everything from Christ’s
birth in a manger at Bethlehem, to his ascension to the throne of the universe at the right hand of the Father.
The text may be divided into three couplets of truth:
Couplet #1 tells us of the WHO of Christ’s person:
“God was manifest in the flesh:
Justified in the Spirit.
Couplet #2 tells us of the WITNESS of Christ’s person:
Seen of angels:
Preached among the Gentiles.
Couplet #3 tells us of the WHERE of Christ’s person:
Believed on in the world:
Received up into glory.”
