Thankful for the Way, Truth, and Life
This message was developed by some time I spent responding to an argument that is broadcasted within the “interfaith” community. Their main problem with Christianity is that Christians claim Jesus of Nazareth is the only way to God. In contrast, they embrace many ways to God. They take a “buffet” approach to religion; take what you want, but leave the rest. Many of us will be doing exactly that this week! This is known as religious pluralism. While religious pluralism may appear inclusive and inoffensive to accept every way possible to God, this is a deceiving worldview. It attempts to be tolerant and all-inclusive. However, we will soon realize the contradiction in their attempt to be accept every path to God. Claims that oppose each other cannot co-exist.
Without Jesus, Thanksgiving is just Holiday pay. Our material goods are burdens, not blessings. Our relationships are selfish, not serving. Our laughter simply covers up our loathing. After all, without Jesus, who do we have to thank for anything in life? Do we commend ourselves? Are we relying on our own way?
You will not be challenged to make a list of possessions to be thankful for, but rather to offer praise for ONE particular person – Jesus Christ.
