Wasting God’s Breath
“The LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” — Genesis 2:7
“The breath of the Almighty hath given me life.” — Job 33:4
The Bible is the Word of God given by inspiration of God (2 Tim. 3:16). I’m told that the Greek word for “inspiration” is “theopneustos” which means “God breathed.” That would make the word of the Bible the very breath of God. His Word is His breath.
There is a saying— “I’m wasting my breath talking to you.” I think I can remember my parents saying this to me a few times when I was young. I wonder if God ever feels the same way? Do we waste God’s breath by ignoring what He tells us in His Word.
God has breathed life in you. You live by His breath. “…the God in whose hand thy breath is… hast thou not glorified.” (Dan. 5:23)
What are doing with God’s breath? Are you wasting it? May our prayer be:
I will listen for Thy voice, lest my footsteps go astray;
I will follow and rejoice in all that Thou shalt say.
Psalm 150:6 says, “Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.”
