THE “BOTTOM LINE”

Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all tothe glory of God. —1 Cor. 10:31

I love the song “All the Glory Belongs To Jesus.” Amen (Isa. 42:8; 43:7)!  Our prayer should always be, “Let the LORD be glorified” (Isa. 66:5). Paul prayed, “that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you” (2 Thess. 1:12). The glory of God should be our supreme desire in everything we do (1 Cor. 6:20).

But, WHAT IF it means God is glorified more by our poverty than by our prosperity?  WHAT IF it means God is glorified more in our dying than in our healing?  WHAT IF it means God is glorified more by our suffering than our comfort (2 Peter 4:14, 16)?

The glory of God should be the bottom line of all our prayers.  Jesus said, “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, THAT THE FATHER MAY BE GLORIFIED…” (John 14:13).

When you pray, ask yourself, “Why should God answer this prayer?  Should He answer just to make my life easier? Am I praying for God’s glory, or for my own comforts.”

May everything we do be for God to be glorified, no matter what it may cost us (see Philippians 1:20).
