A Consideration About Death

A Consideration About Death

“The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, NONE CONSIDERING that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come.” —Isaiah 57:1

What Isaiah wrote is true. The world doesn’t care much about the death of the righteous.   Righteous people die everyday and few take it to heart.

However, consider this: God looks at the death one of His servants differently than most of us. Psalm 116:15 says, “Precious in the SIGHT OF THE LORD is the death of his saints.”

Notice this phrase in our text, “none considering.”  Why did they die when they did?   Have you considered “that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come.”  Perhaps God, in His mercy, has taken a righteous person to heaven “early” to spare them evil in the future (read 2 Kings 22:20; 2 Chron. 34:28; Eccl. 4:2-3; Rev. 14:13).  This is why Job wished he died before being born (Job 10:18-19). This may be why Evangelist Lester Roloff was killed suddenly in a plane crash. Was God sparing him all the hassles with the government awaiting him? Only God knows.

Consider all the heartaches and troubles you would have missed if God took you to heaven immediately after you got saved!   But, most of the time God leaves a believer here on earth to bear fruit (Phil. 1:23-24).

Why some Christians die young and relatively unscathed while others suffer through life in hardships and pain is a great mystery.

    Something to consider!
