Your Christian Uniform

Put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ...”— Romans 13:14

Most business have a uniform that identifies their employees with their company (McDonalds, Burger King, Les Schwab, etc.).  When someone enlists in the military, they are issued with a uniform they are to wear when on duty.

Suppose a young man reports for duty at the army headquarters wearing his civvies.  He signs the papers which make him officially a member of the armed services and is issued a uniform.  The company of recruits lines up the next morning for its first inspection.  All the other soldiers are dressed in full uniform but our new recruit is still wearing his civvies— Levi’s, polo shirt, and nike tennis shoes. The sergeant major would make short work of him! Once in the army he is to be through with the old dress, radically, completely and once-for-all. In a decisive and complete act he discards his civilian clothes and puts on his uniform. From henceforth he is to be identified by his clothes.

The believer is issued a “uniform” that identifies him as a Christian. The saint’s “uniform” is Christ. Putting on the Lord Jesus Christ means to clothe yourself in all that Christ is— Be clothed in the attitudes and manners of Christ.  Act like Him.

Are you still dressed in your civvies of your unsaved days, or are you wearing the uniform of Christ Himself?
