I Confess…
I Confess…
“I beseech you, brethren… that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me” —Rom. 15:30
I confess—I’m guilty of coveting! No, I’m not covetous of anyone’s possessions or position. There is a legitimate form of coveting. For example, concerning spiritual gifts we are told to “covet earnestly the best gifts” (1 Cor. 12:31). Paul also said, “covet to prophesy” (1 Cor. 14:39).
One thing I covet from you is your prayers. That is what Paul desired from those he wrote to. In most of his epistles, he asked believers to pray for him (2 Cor. 1:11; Eph. 6:18-20; Col. 4:2-4; Philem. 1:22). Paul knew he could not be effective in his ministry for God without the prayers of God’s people supporting Him.
Please pray for me. Here are some of the prayers I covet the most:
- Pray that God will give me wisdom to understand His will (Col. 1:9)…
- Pray that I might be fruitful unto every good work (Col. 1:10)…
- Pray that I might be “strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power” (Col. 1:11).
- Pray “that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel” (Eph. 6:19).
Please remember me in your prayers as God brings me to your mind! For this I will be eternally grateful.

A great prayer tool is to personalize Paul’s prayer by substituting the YOU,
THY,or THOU with the name of the person you are praying… for as well as YOUR OWN!
Thank you Alice! You are a blessing to Barb and I.
Dear Preacher Al,
I pray for you daily when I speak with my Saviour, and I also pray for your wife Barbara. You are a gift to Bible Baptist Church, and we are blessed to have you as our pastor. Alice Hill
