“An Expected End”

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. —Jeremiah 29:11

Israel was facing an uncertain future and their circumstances didn’t look good. God sent Jeremiah with the message of our text to encourage them when things looked hopeless.

I recently read the following “Message From God,” that illustrated God’s love and care for His children:

My Precious Child,

I am in control. I am sovereign. I am able to make things happen the way I want them to go. Yes, I allow you to make your own choices. And I know you don’t fully understand how these ideas can operate side by side. But I’m able to work within and around the choices you make to cause My ultimate purposes to succeed. For this, you must trust Me. Ask Me about your choices and plans. My wisdom is yours if you’ll ask.

I want you to cooperate with My plans. When the people around you don’t do that, be assured, I am still in control. I will fulfill My plan. Their choices are their own, but I’m still in control. Trust me. I’ll use it for your good.

Lovingly,

Your Heavenly Father, the King

When it looks like everything is out of control, you can rest assured that God is in control.  Even when we make a mess of our life by unwise decisions, God can turn things around to make them work out according to His plan.

Fear not. We may not know exactly where the path we are on is going, but we can trust God that He will bring us to His an expected end.  Remember, nothing can touch your life without first passing through the hands of your loving heavenly Father.

  1. Preacher, I read this every morning since the day I first received it.
Each day I try to focus on lifting my head from earth’s troubles and the cares of this world, and view the glories of the kingdom instead. Resting in God takes work: such a contradiction, is it not!
