The “Key” To The Open Door
The “Key” to the Open Door
…knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are. —Luke 13:25
I recently heard a story about an argument between Queen Victoria and her husband Prince Albert. Albert became so frustrated, he went to his room and locked the door. Furious, Victoria pursued after him and pounded on the door. “Who is it?” Albert said calmly. “Victoria, Queen of England,” she asserted boldly. “Who is it?” Albert gently asked again. “It’s the Queen of England!” Victoria shouted. “Who is it?” Albert asked softly? Finally, Victoria responded humbly, “Albert, it’s your wife, Victoria.” Then Albert opened the door and greeted her with a smile. (see Prov. 15:1).
If you go to God in arrogance and pride, He’ll slam the door in your face (James 4:6). But if you come to Him in humility and faith, you’ll always find the door open to your requests. God said to King Josiah, Because thine heart was tender… and humbledst thyself before me, and didst rend thy clothes, and weep before me; I have even heard thee also, saith the LORD” (2 Chron. 34:27).
God said, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; THEN will I hear from heaven” (2 Chron. 7:14). Notice, before we even begin to pray we must humble ourselves if we expect God to hear us from heaven.
Remember, God will not hear the prayer of a proud man. “The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit” (Ps. 34:18).
