A Message From God

I have a message from God unto thee. —Judges 3:20

Nicholas Carr points out in his book “The Shallows: What the Internet Is Doing to Our Brains,” that in our connected world, “The sense that there might be a message out there for us” is increasingly difficult to resist.  You can see it everyday as people constantly check their “Facebook” accounts and answer the sound or vibration of their smart phones signaling the arrival of another message.

Everyone is seeking capture our attention to convey some message to us. Paul wrote to the Corinthians, “There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification” (1 Cor. 14:10).

With all these “voices” around us sometimes it is often difficult to discern the sound of God’s still small voice as it vibrates in our soul with a message for us. May we be like young Samuel who listened for God’s message and answered, “Speak, Lord; for thy servant hearth” (1 Sam. 3:1-10).
