30 Reasons Not To Sin
30 Reasons Not To Sin
“Stand in awe, and sin not” —Psalms 4:4
I should not sin because…
- God hates sin (Jer. 44:4).
- A little sin leads to more sin.
- My sin invites the chastening hand of God.
- Time I spend in sin is forever wasted.
- My sin grieves God who loves me.
- My sin places a greater burden on my spiritual leaders.
- Sin deceives me (Heb. 3:13). It promises more than it can deliver.
- My sin always makes me less than what I could be.
- Others, including my family, may suffer consequences due to my sin.
- Sin gives cause to the enemies of God to blaspheme.
- My sin brings reproach on the name of Christ.
- The pleasure of sin is short lived and the painful consequences of sin may last a lifetime.
- My sin may lead others to sin.
- Sin makes a mockery of the cross, upon which Christ died for the very purpose of taking away my sin.
- My sin will hinder God hearing my prayers.
- Sin steals my reputation and soils my testimony.
- My sin puts a smile on Satan’s face and gives him a foothold in my life (Eph. 4:27).
- My sin may lead to the loss of rewards at the Judgment Seat of Christ.
- Sin brings forth death (James 1:15).
- Sin is shameful (Eph. 5:12).
- My sin will rob me of the joy of salvation (Ps. 51:8, 12)
- When I sin I am displaying a greater love for self than loving Christ.
- When I sin I am choosing to believe a lie.
- My sin denies Christ’s lordship over my life.
- Sin may leave me without an inheritance in the Kingdom (Gal. 5:21).
- Sin defiles my conscience and hardens my heart.
- Sin short-circuits the power of God in my life.
- Sin hinders me from running the race set before me (Heb. 12:1)
- My sin presumes upon the grace of God. “Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?” —Romans 6:1-2
- God tells me not to sin— “These things write I unto you, that ye SIN NOT.” (1 John 2:1). Jesus said, “Behold, thou art made whole: SIN NO MORE, lest a worse thing come unto thee.” (John 5:14)
