The Backpack

If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. —John 8:36:

I heard that in someplace in Alaska when a child does something wrong his parents would put a rock in his backpack.  When the child was caught doing something right, they would take a rock out of the backpack.

I once held a similar thought.  My problem was more rocks were going into my spiritual backpack than were coming out.  Hence the burden got heavier and heavier until I was hunched over like Quasimodo.

Then I found out God could solve my problem.  I thought He would take my rocks away, but He didn’t!  He did something better—He took the whole backpack!  I’m no longer collecting rocks, since I have no place to put them.  My backpack full rocks was already placed on Jesus at Calvary (Isa. 53:6).

Praise the Lord!  Jesus took my burden, I could no longer bear. Yes, Jesus took my burden, in answer to my prayer. My anxious fear subsided, My spirit was made strong, For Jesus took my burden, and He left me with a song.

Are you tired of toting rocks around.  Come to the cross and let Jesus take your backpack!
