Son Exposure
Son Exposure
But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory… —2 Corinthians 3:18
Have you ever noticed the countenance of some Christians also appears like their face glows? Stephen, who was filled with the Holy Ghost, stood before the council, “and all that sat in the council looking steadfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel” (Acts 6:15).
The text for today’s devotion tells us as we behold “the glory of the Lord, we are changed into that same image.” Our souls function like photographic plates, and Christ’s shining image is the light. The more we expose our souls to the light of His image, the more of His image will be burned into our character. We gradually become more like Him as we spend time with Him.
Moses was exposed to God’s presence 40 days and 40 nights on Mount Sinai, so that when he came down, His face shined to brightly the Israelites had to put a veil over his face!
When Peter and John were brought before the Sanhedrin, the chief priests and elders, “took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus” (Acts 4:13). The more time you spend exposed to Jesus, the more Christlike you become.
How much does life reflect the image of Christ? Make it a habit to expose yourself to Christ’s presence everyday by spending time reading His Word, and communing with Him in prayer. That time will show up on your countenance.
