A Wobbly Life
A Wobbly Life
“…a false balance is not good.” —Proverbs 20:23
I recently purchased a new 21 speed bike for my wife, Barb. After assembling it, I noticed the front wheel was wobbling slightly and wavering from side to side. I thought the rim may have been bent. I called one of our church members who is somewhat of an expert on bikes and told him the problem. He told me the wheel was unbalanced because the spokes needed adjusting. The tension on some of the spokes was too tight while some spokes were too loose. After about 30 minutes of adjusting the spokes, the wheel ran perfectly.
I got to thinking about how our lives are like that wheel. With Christ as the hub or axle our lives should revolve around Him. The spokes are our activities connected to the hub. When these activities become out of balance, our lives begin to wobble and waver from side to side.
Is your life running straight and true, or is it wavering? Are you putting too much stress on things that are not important to the Lord? Do the priorities of your life need some adjustments to bring them in line with the Lordship of Christ?
“A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” —James 1:8
