When Your Ship Is Sinking
When Your Ship is Sinking
“There arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.” — Mark 4:37
Have you ever gone through a trial that was so severe it seemed like your ship was sinking in despair? That was the real life situation of the disciples in our text (read Mark 4:37-41).
When we get into situations like this, our first reaction is usually to try to bail ourselves out of our trouble. But the harder we try, the storm waters keep pouring in to our life faster than we can bail them out! So, as a last resort, like the disciples, we call on Jesus as our only hope. “Wake up Jesus! We’re about to go under!”
Instead of trying to bail yourself out of your troubles, why not go to Jesus first. As long as He is on-board your vessel, He will not allow you to sink. He is with us in our storms. He may not immediately calm the storm, but He will calm your heart with His words, “Peace, be still” (Mk. 4:39).
