Because He Was Skillful
Because He Was Skillful
And Chenaniah, chief of the Levites, was for song: he instructed about the song, because he was skilful. —1 Chronicles 15:22
Why are some appointed to certain leadership positions? The simple answer is because they are talented and competent in that area. This was the case in the service of Old Testament temple. Construction workers, musicians, teachers, were chosen because of their skill (Ex. 31:1-6; 1 Kings 7:14; 1 Chron. 15:22; 25:1, 7 cf. Acts 18:24-28).
I thank God for those workers in our church who are talented in specific areas. Our church would be handicapped if it were not for our skillful musicians/singers, audio/visual technicians, child care, graphic designers, clerical workers, mechanics, carpenters, painters, landscapers, photographers, and those with computer/internet savvy.
Any skill or talent you have should be used for God’s glory (Col. 3:23-24). We don’t do it to lift up ourselves, but to exalt the Lord Jesus Christ. He deserves our very best, because He gave us His very best.
What is your particular skill? How are you using it in ministry for Him? God has a job for your talent. Find it and get busy.
