A Promise for the Aged
A Promise for the Aged
Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bring forth fruit in old age… — Psalm 92:13-14
I’m 62 years old. As I grow older, one of my greatest fears is that I will lose my effectiveness in the ministry. Moses was still going strong when he was 120 years old (Dt. 34:7). While I don’t fear “old age” or dying, I do dread the possibility of being “turned out to pasture,” or “set on the shelf” as an ministerial antique. As I advance in years I pray God will continue to give me a fruitful and flourishing ministry in “the house of the Lord.
Jesus said, “Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit” (John 15:8). Don’t let the years of time keep you for bearing fruit for God’s glory. As long as your heart is beating and you are breathing God’s air, God still has a plan to use you.
