Growth

Growth

As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may GROW thereby: — 1 Pet. 2:2

But GROW in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. — 2 Pet. 3:18

I heard Dr. Howard Hendrick say, “Anything that grows requires attention.” That is so true. It doesn’t matter if it is a garden, a marriage, a church ministry, a friendship, finances, knowledge of Scripture, faith, or a person’s spiritual relationship with the Lord—If it is to grow, it will require attention. When it is neglected it will stagnate and eventually die.

Consider your relationship to God… to your family… to your knowledge and understanding of God’s Word—Is it growing or stagnating?  If it is not growing it is because it lacks attention.

Maybe it’s time to reprioritize what is most important in your life.

And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; (Phil. 1:9)

  1. It is so true for a relationship to grow we need to give it attention. My Uncle Bob died last summer and I had told myself when I first met him in 2004 ,after his wife died, that I would call him at least once a week to let him know I cared. We developed a very loving and close relationship, more so than even the one I got to have with my father, his brother, who died when I was 17. He visited us in Washington and we went to Las Vegas to see him and my other siblings got to know him too, all because of that decision to give him attention. I hope this may encourage someone who needs to call or see a loved one.
