Hastened By The King’s Commandment
This week our Life Groups studied Esther chapter 3. Verse 13 says, “The posts went out, being hastened by the king’s commandment…”
Haman, the Jew’s enemy, persuaded King Ahasuerus to make a degree to kill all the Jews in the Persian empire. Posts of this degree were sent out by the king’s commandment. However, later in the book of Esther Haman’s plot failed because of the intercession of Esther. The King made a second decree that would save the Jews from annihilation. The message was sent out to be posted throughout all the kingdom. It was a life-and-death matter. Esther 8:14 says, “So the posts that rode upon mules and camels went out, being HASTENED AND PRESSED ON by the King’s commandment.”
We have a commandment from King Jesus to get the Gospel to everyone around the world. We need to be “hastened and pressed on”to get the Gospel out! “The king’s business required haste” (1 Sam. 21:8). Every Christian is to be involved in the business of the King of kings. We cannot dilly-dally about it. Souls are perishing without hearing the Gospel and we are under orders from the King to get the message to them (Mt. 28:19-20). This is URGENT!
Psalm 119:60—“I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments.” What are you waiting for? When it comes to obeying the command of the King, it is nothing to drag your feet about.
