God’s Investment In You!
The other day I heard a discussion on the radio about the salaries some baseball players receive. The commentator made a reference to Jesus’ statement, “For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required…” (Luke 12:48). He applied this to the excessive salaries some baseball players get paid, yet they are underproducing. For example, one player who is getting paid in excess of $13,000,000 a year, yet his batting average is only .250. That’s hardly worth what he is getting paid. A pitcher who is getting paid $12,000.000 with an ERA of over 8.00 is not worth his exorbitant salary. He should feel guilty every time he cashes his pay check! For unto the player who is paid much, of him shall much be required! A good application of what Jesus said.
However, what about us who have been saved by His precious blood? Every Christian has been GIVEN VERY MUCH. God has made an astronomical investment in your soul to give you a home in heaven for all eternity. What are you doing with what He has given to you? Are you giving the Lord a profitable return on His investment in you (Luke 17:10)?
“For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required…” When we stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ, we’ll be judged according to what we did with what we were given. I pray when God asks you what you did with what He gave you, you won’t have to go “dig it up” (Mt. 25:18)!
