Making Tough Decisions

Making Tough Decisions

What shall I do? —Matthew 27:22

In Matthew 27:11-26, Pontius Pilate was trying to determine what to do about Jesus. We learn six guidelines for making tough decisions from Pilate’s predicament:

  1. Determine to decide the larder questions first (vs. 11-14).
  2. Do not allow others to decide for you (vs. 15-18).
  3. Look beyond the superficial elements (v. 18).
  4. When you know the answer, stop deciding (vs. 18, 23-24).
  5. Take into consideration the counsel of intimate family and friends (v. 19).
  6. Refuse to automatically accept the popular choice (v. 20).
