What God Wants Most
“Give me thine heart…” —Proverbs 23:26
What God wants is YOU. “Yield yourselves unto the LORD, and enter into his sanctuary… and serve the LORD your God” (2 Chron. 30:8). Again, “Present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service” (Rom. 12:1). The Macedonians got it right. They “first gave their own selves to the Lord” (2 Cor. 8:5).
This is the Divine order: First, give Self… then give your service… and finally give your substance.
When I buy gifts for my wife Barb, I sometimes think my choices are often not very good but she accepts the gift with good grace because she knows that before I ever gave her any gift I gave her my heart.
And how God is grieved when we bring Him vain offerings! Money in an offering plate means nothing to Him when we withhold ourselves.
When God has your heart He also has your checkbook (Mt. 6:21).
