THE CHRISTIAN WARRIOR
The Christian Warrior
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. —Ephesians 6:12
Every Christian is a soldier in a war… Not a war of flesh and blood, but a spiritual warfare. Read Ephesians 6:10-18 we see a picture of the Christian warrior and the weapons with which he fights.
First, consider the WARRIOR himself. You cannot wage war against the enemy with military uniforms—There must be men inside them! So, what about the Christian soldier? He must “be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.” He draws his strength from the Lord. This is a spiritual battle and must be fought with spiritual power.
Next, consider the WEAPONS from the spiritual armory. The warrior’s weapons are not physical, but dispositions of the spirit. He fights with “truth… righteousness… peace… faith… salvation… the Word of God… and prayer.” There is nothing more powerful than these. A sword will fail where a courtesy will prevail. We can “kill” our enemies with kindness. A warrior on his knees in prayer will fend off any Satanic assault.
Onward Christian soldier— “Put on the whole armour of God!”
