The Rest of Faith

The Rest of Faith

We which have believed do enter into rest… —Hebrews 4:6

Faith is simply believing and resting upon what God has said. Many Christians struggle to maintain a posture of faith. They clench their fists and grit their teeth trying to sustain faith in their faith! They fail to understand that faith is not about their ability to trust, but God’s ability to keep His Word.

J. Hudson Taylor worked hard trying to develop faith, until he stopped looking at his faith and learned to look to the Faithful one. Faith begins by letting go, stretching out on the promises, not by taking a deep breath and resolving to trust or bust.

God’s Word promises, “Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee” (Ps. 55:22). Your part is to roll your burden on the Lord, then leave it. Too often we don’t leave it, but allow it to roll back upon us. We spend all out time rolling instead of resting. He will keep what we commit-and leave committed.

“Let go and let God” is too often just a cliché instead of a reality we live by.
