A Challenge and Adventure
“GIVE ME THIS MOUNTAIN” (Joshua 14:12).
Walker Butte is about 3 miles from where we live in Florence, Arizona. It is almost 2,000 feet above sea level. It is a landmark you can see from 25 miles away.
I’ve walked to the foot of Walker Butte several times. My wife asked me what I find so fascinating about Walker Butte. My answer: When I see Walker Butte I see a CHALLENGE and an ADVENTURE.
I’ll be 72 years old soon. I’m NOT an experienced mountain climber. But, later this fall I plan to hike up Superstition Mountain in Apache Junction (elevation: 5,000+ ft.) with two of my grandsons. In the meantime I will practice climbing up Walker Butte (relatively easy). I’ll post some pictures later.
I’m a little concerned about rattlesnakes. They tell me that as the weather cools off in Arizona, snakes go into hiding. (We’ll see!)

You’ll have to tell us if you find the lost dutchman’s gold mine.
