A Contradiction
“Rise, Peter; kill, and eat. But Peter said, Not so, Lord…” —Acts 10:13-14
Now here is a sure enough contradiction in the Bible. When the Lord let down the table cloth full of all kinds of wild animals and commanded Peter or rise, kill and eat, Peter uttered a contradiction of terms—“NOT SO LORD.” A person cannot say “not so” to the “Lord.” To say “no” to the Lord is to deny His Lordship. Jesus said, “Why call ye me Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?” (Luke 6:46).
Peter did this same thing when Jesus told His disciple he was going to Jerusalem to be crucified. “Peter took him, and began to rebuke him saying, Be it far from thee, LORD: this shall not be unto thee” (Mt. 16:22). Here again we see Peter calling Jesus Lord while contradicting Him!
If Jesus is the Lord, our response must always be, “Yes, Lord” (see Mark 7:28; John 21:15-16).
