A LEAK!

A LEAK!

While preparing to resume our trip from the Devil’s Tower I discovered our fresh water holding tank sprung a leak at the drain valve.  The valve needed to be replaced. Fresh water is essential, especially if we were going to boondock along the way.

We pulled out of our campsite and headed down the road in search for a new valve.  A few hours later we finally purchased the valve ($5). But I could not remove the old broken valve. It is located in an awkward spot behind one of the wheels on our Airstream. I figured I could fix the valve at our next stop. But, by the time we reached Mitchell, SD it was dark and raining.  We spent the night at an RV Park.

Since we were in Mitchell, SD, this morning we visited the World Famous Corn Palace. Very “corny” place (see pictures).

The damaged drain valve still needed to be fixed.  We drove to Brookings, SD to camp at Troy Nilson’s parents place.   I decided I would just patch the broken valve with some epoxy putty (see picture).   It’s temporary, but it will hold until I can install the new valve.  At least we can have fresh water as we travel

Tonight, Troy’s dad, Jay, took us to eat at Nick’s World Famous Hamburgers in Brookings. They’ve been making hamburgers since 1929. What a treat.Yum (see picture).

Thanks for praying for us.
