A Place Prepared For A Prepared People

A Place Prepared For A Prepared People

“I go to prepare a place for you…” — John 14:2

The Boy Scout motto is “Be Prepared.” Much of our lives is spent getting prepared. All the time we spend going to school is preparing us for life after school. We spend time in the bathroom preparing ourselves physically for the events of the day. S.S. teachers and preachers spend time preparing lessons and sermons for the next church service. Athletes spend weeks preparing for a competition (races, boxing, etc.)

But, God is also making preparations. Jesus is preparing a place for us (John 14:2). And the Lord is preparing us for the place He is preparing us for! Selah (pause to think about that)! For example, all the time Joseph as a servant in Potiphar’s house, in the Egyptian prison, was God preparing Him for the place of leadership over all Egypt and the salvation of His kindred. Moses spent 40 years on the back side of the desert tending sheep. But God was preparing Him for the place of leading the sheep of Israel out of Egypt to the Promised Land. Jesus took 3 1/2 years to prepare His disciples to lead the early church after His death and resurrection.

Likewise, God is preparing you and I today for a place He is preparing for us—Both in our present life, and in eternity. We may not know what that place may be, but rest assured, since we know God is preparing it for us, it will be wonderful.

May our prayer be, “Lord, prepare me for what Thou art preparing for me!”
