At Open Door Baptist Church

Pastor Jason Murphy presenting award

Barb and I spent the last three days at Open Door Baptist Church in Lynnwood, WA at their annual Bible Conference (“Renew Your Passion”). God greatly used the messages by Dr. Wayne Sehmish, Kurt Skelly, and Doug Fisher to speak to my heart about some things going on in my life.  While I’ve enjoyed preaching God’s Word to others the last 44 years, it was a blessing to be on the receiving end of some anointed sermons by other men of God. Thank You Lord, for showing me some things I need in my life as I move forward serving You.

Last night (Tuesday, August 28), Open Door honored several other pastors who have labored for the Lord in the Pacific Northwest over the past 20-40 years.  I was humbled to be honored with a special award for the 44 years I’ve served God by His grace as a Pastor. Over 30 members of Bible Baptist in Port Orchard attended the service.

The Award reads:

Open Door Baptist Church

Honoring Pastor Al Hughes

For his dedication in making a difference in the lives of many through the faithful preaching of the gospel of Christ in the Pacific Northwest for 44 years.

“Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful” (1 Corinthians 4:2)

I trust God will use my example and the ministry of other faithful men to encourage other younger preachers to “stay by the stuff.”

Thank you Pastor Murphy and the good people at Open Door Baptist for your unselfish ministry to preachers in the Great Pacific Northwest. May God richly bless your ministry for Him.

    1. Your family has been one of the biggest blessings of my ministry. What a pleasure to serve Jesus along side of Christians like you. It is comforting to know you are praying for us as we travel and serve God wherever He leads us. Thanks!
