Bear With Me

Bear With Me

I admit I am probably writing this devotion out of frustration. I feel how Paul felt when he wrote to a church that frustrated him, “Would to God ye could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me (1 Cor. 11:1).

Sometimes I wonder if some people even care if their church grows or folds.

  • Does their attendance show they care?
  • Do their offerings show their support?
  • Do their prayers show their love of their church?
  • Does their service show they care about the ministry of their church?
  • Does their witnessing show they care about lost souls (Ps. 142:4).

Causal church attendance says, “I don’t need the preaching, teaching, fellowship, or ministry of church.” If people felt they needed the nourishment of Bible teaching and preaching, they would come and get it. Their absence says, “I can do without it.”

Some may have the idea, “There are plenty of other churches in town. If my church fails, I can always go to another church. They’re all the same—’a dime a dozen.'”

Who cares? I praise God for those faithful Christians who SHOW they care about their church by their actions. Do YOU care? How do you show it? Jesus said, “Where your treasure it, there will your heart be also” (Mt. 6:21). Thank you for bearing with me in my folly.
