Better Than You Think
And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. —1 Peter 4:8
The Daily Telegraph (Sept. 18, 2007) ran a story about a married couple who were secretly emailing each other. However, they had no idea the person who they were communicating with was their own spouse! The man emailed under the name, “Prince of Joy.” The woman used the name “Sweetie.”
They exchanged many emails complaining to each other about their marital problems. Later they became attracted to each other and decided to have a clandestine meeting. At that meeting they discovered they were actually married to each other.
Now they have sued each other for divorce accusing each other of being unfaithful. That must be a special kind of dumb! Those emails were probably the best communication they had in years!
Later, the husband (“Prince of Joy”) said, “I still find it hard to believe that ‘Sweetie,’ who wrote such wonderful things, is actually the same woman I married and who has not said a nice word to me for years.”
What a lesson for us—Take a minute to reflect on your place. It is probably a lot better than you think!
