Consecration through Crucifixion
Every person falls somewhere between the point of confusion and consecration in respect to their identity in Christ Jesus. My prayer is that the Holy Spirit will move you towards a sincere understanding of what the Apostle Paul meant by, “I am crucified with Christ” (Galatians 2:20). The believers throughout the region of Galatia struggled with their distinctiveness in Christ, forgetting that the faith of Jesus saved them and secured them (Romans 3:19-22). As a Christian, your identity rests solely in Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection. The old man is dead to sin, but the new man is alive forevermore!
I. We Are Crucified with Christ (Galatians 2:20a)
- The old man is dead (Romans 6:6a)
- The power of sin is destroyed (Romans 6:6-7)
II. We Are Alive in Christ (Galatians 2:20b)
- We enjoy newness of life (Romans 6:4)
- We shall experience the likeness of His resurrection (Romans 6:5)
III. We Are Living by the Faith of Christ (Galatians 2:16, 20)
- His faith saves us (Romans 3:19-22)
- His faith secures us
