DISPLAYING YOUR COLORS

I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. —Romans 1:16

When I run in a 5K race, I always wear a T-shirt with a Christian message on it. I pin my runner number somewhere on the shirt so it doesn’t cover-up the Christian message. I want to be a witness to everyone where my loyalties are.

The apostle Paul had a loyalty that was most definitely out in the open—a loyalty to Jesus Christ. He wrote to the believers in Rome, “I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ” (Rom. 1:16). He knew that the gospel was “the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth.”

The believers in Rome were also known for their faith in Christ. Paul said of them: “I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world” (Rom. 1:8). What about your faith… How many people speak of your faith? Is your loyalty to Jesus out in the open?
