Get Your Own Hallelujah!
Get Your Own Hallelujah!
But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. For every man shall bear his own burden. —Galatians 6:4-5
The phrase “every man” is mentioned twice in our text, linking the two verses together—“But let EVERY MAN prove is own work… EVERY MAN shall bear his own burden.”
When you prove your own work, your cause of rejoicing will not be dependent on the applause of another. While praise from other people is nice, the main thing is to prove your own work knowing you did it for God and God alone. If God approves of your work, it doesn’t make any difference whether anyone else appreciates it or not.
You cannot live off of someone else’s hallelujah. You need to get your own hallelujah!
Your responsibility is to find, follow, and finish what God has called you to do, and not be concerned with another’s work for the Lord. After Peter’s restoration he wanted to know what John was going to do. Jesus told Peter that it was none of his business. Peter’s job was to follow Jesus to the very end (John 21:21-23).
As Paul wrote, “For every man shall bear his own burden.”
