GOD’S SECRET WORK

But his father and his mother knew not that it was of the LORD, that he sought an occasion against the Philistines… — Judges 14:4

God is always working through the circumstances of our live. Sometimes His work is obvious and other times He works “under cover” in secret as in the case of Samson’s desire for a Philistine wife.

In 1948 Ehud Avriel hired a ship to transport some of his purchases to Palestine. To all eyes his shipment consisted of 600 tons of Italian onions. British customs agents would not likely sniff around that cargo very long. That was the plan—The 600 tons of onions covered the real cargo, a shipment of Czech rifles Avriel had purchased for the Israeli army!

Sometimes all we see are the onions of our circumstances. The sin or the smell of disappointment seems to dominate the scene. But perhaps that is only the cover for God’s secret work.
