Hell Is No Joke!
…in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments… —Luke 16:23
Several years ago I went to Hell! No, not the literal burning hell the Bible refers to. I visited a small town in Michigan called “Hell” located about 15 miles northwest of Ann Arbor. They even have their own website (www.gotohellmi.com). To my knowledge, there are no churches there! Why anyone would want to name their town “Hell” (or even live there) is a mystery to me.
While visiting there I stopped at the general store and bought a souvenir coffee mug. On the outside of the mug it read: “Coffee From Hell (Hell, Michigan).” Since I’m known as a lover of good coffee at our church, this coffee mug caused several of my church members to laugh when they saw me drinking from it.
However, the Lord recently convicted me about this particular coffee mug. Hell is no laughing matter! There is nothing funny about hell. We should be doing everything we can to keep people from going there!

Preacher,
You posted a devotion today titled “Hell is no Joke” following a sermon on 11/30/2014 titled “The Weeping of Jesus” in which you expounded on the three instances in scripture that record Jesus weeping. Do you think that Jesus weeps over hell? I think that He most certainly must!
As an aside I stopped by the church on Thursday to see if I could do anything to help and there were so many people there that they were tripping over one another. Brother Turk and I agreed that I probably was not needed at that time. I will check back next week to see if there would be a time when I could be of assistance. Brother Dewey
