“His Eye Is On The Sparrow”

“His Eye Is On The Sparrow”

Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. —Matthew 10:29

Recently my wife, Barb, heard a thump on our family room window. A small bird had flow into the window screen and had it’s tiny talon stuck in the screen. It flapped it’s little wings frantically struggling to free itself. But to no avail. After a couple of minutes it just hung there exhausted with it’s chest throbbing from it’s rapid heartbeat. Finally it was still. Barb thought it died and summoned me to the family room. She pointed me to the little bird hanging motionless on the exterior screen. I went outside to remove it from the screen. As I gently took it in my hand, to my surprise it chirped. It was still alive! I carefully released it’s foot from the screen and put it on the ground. It laid there for several seconds and finally regained enough strength to take off and fly to the nearest tree limb. I was happy to see it survive.

Sometimes we are like that little bird—anxious, frazzled, trapped, and longing to be freed from a difficult situation. I am comforted to know that no sparrow escapes our heavenly Father’s notice. God is fully aware of every little bird’s misfortune. Since He knows about these small details, we can trust that He sees and cares about the big issues that ruffle our feathers. When we get trapped or stuck in some screen window of life, God is there to gently rescue us and set us free!

Remember, “His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.”
