How Many Sins?
How Many Sins?
“…mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head” — Psalm 40:12
How many sins do you think you’ve committed? If you sin just three times a day (once in thought, once in word, once in deed) you will have committed over 1,000 sins in a year. Speaking for myself, I probably sin much more than three sins a day when I take into account all the sins of omission and sins of commission (James 4:17).
David, who was a man after God’s own heart, said his sins were more than the hairs on his head. If David had an average head of hair he had about 100,000 hairs on his head (Brandreth, Gyles. Your Vital Statistics, p. 22).
100,000 sins committed by just one person! Wow! Now multiply that by the number of people on earth! You cannot even conceive how many sins that would be!
The blessing in all this is, every one of those sins were laid on Jesus when He died for the sins of the world (1 John 2:2)! Hallelujah!
Now would be a good time for you to bow your head and thank Jesus for washing away all your sins in His precious blood. If you are a Christian, you have a bald head as far as the number of sins in your life!
Bald is beautiful! Amen!
