How You React
It is not what happens to you that determines your happiness in life—It is how you react to what happens to you that counts. You may not control what happens in your life, but you do have control of how you respond to what happens in life!
Two brothers—Cain and Abel— both had the same parents; lived in the same environment; same teachings, but one goes to heaven and the other goes to hell. What was the difference? It was how they responded that made the difference.
Two brothers—Jacob and Esau—both had the same parents; lived in the same home; had the same upbringing— yet one followed the flesh and the other followed the Spirit. It was how they responded that made the difference.
Two sisters—Mary and Martha—Both lived in the same house—followed the same Jesus. Yet one is blessed and the other is irritated. Why? It was how they reacted that counts.
Two thieves die on crosses with Jesus in the midst—Both are condemned; both saw the same Jesus. Yet one rails one Christ while the other says, “Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.” One goes to heaven the other goes to hell. Why? It was how they reacted.
A Christian was about to martyred for the cause of Christ. They took from him his wealth, house, and family. Now they were about to take away his life. He was asked if he had any final word before they burned him at the stake. He said, “There is one thing you cannot take from me—My liberty to react in the way I choose.”
