“It is Finished,” But…
“It Is Finished,” But…
“It is finished” — John 19:30
Jesus cried on the cross, “It is finished,” meaning He accomplished His earthly mission of giving His life a ransom for our sins (Mt. 20:28). “It is finished,” but it isn’t over! There is more. Jesus must yet arise from the grave to prove His claims were true (Rom. 1:4). Jesus must be resurrected, or we would still be in our sins (1 Cor. 15:17).
“It is finished,” but it isn’t over. Christ’s intercessory ministry as our great High Priest has just begun!
“It is finished,” but it isn’t over. There is still a work for us to do. Jesus is alive and we must go and tell the world the Gospel!
“It is finished,” but it isn’t over. Jesus still must come again to rapture His Church.
“It is finished,” but it isn’t over. Jesus still “must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet” (1 Cor. 15:25-26).
“THEN COMETH THE END, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God… that God may be all in all.” (1 Cor. 15:24-28).
It ain’t over, ‘til it’s over!
