It’s The Little Things!
Who hath despised the day of small things? —Zechariah 4:10
A lady in our church recently told me how she got hired for a job she applied for at a restaurant. As she waited for her job interview outside the manager’s office she notice a matchbook cover laying on the floor. She picked it up and put it her pocket to throw in the garbage later. A few minutes later she was called into the office for her interview. The manager greeted her after some brief “small talk.” Then he told her, “Well Margaret, I think this interview is over.” Margaret said, “Aren’t you going to check my references or ask me any questions?” He answered, “No, I don’t have to. You were hired when I saw you pick up that matchbook cover off the floor!”
What a great lesson for us to be attentive to the little things that would improve the appearance of our church facility. For example, picking up a hymnbook off the floor and putting it back in the pew rack or picking up a gum wrapper.
Remember, first impressions are lasting impressions.

Thanks Brother Stevens. Actually, it was after I preached a sermon on going the second mile that the lady in our church shared her employment experience with me.
Good illustration that goes well with; THE SECOND MILE
