Keep Your Eyes On The Goal
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith… lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. —Hebrews 12:2-3
It was a foggy morning in 1952 when Florence Chadwick dove into the cold water off Catalina Island to swim to the California coast. If she succeeded she would be the first woman to accomplish that feat. She had already become the first woman to swim the English Channel in both directions!
However, after about 16 hours of swimming through the fog, her body was growing numb with the cold. She didn’t think she could make it and asked to be pulled from the water. She was surprised when she found out she was only one mile from the California coast!
She told a reporter, “Look, I’m not making excuses, but if I could have seen the land, I might have made it.”
I believe that is what discourages many Christians and causes them to quit—They lose sight of the goal line.
Christian, don’t give up. You’ve come too far to turn back now! Keep on, keeping on! You’re gonna make it. Keep your eyes on Jesus! Don’t quit.
