Mind Your Own Business

Mind Your Own Business

Let none of you suffer as a… busybody in other men’s matters. (1 Peter 4:15).

When Peter asked Jesus, concerning John, “Lord, and what shall this man do?” (John 21:21), Jesus answered, “If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? Follow thou me” (v. 22). Jesus was saying to Peter, “What difference does it make to you what John does? That is none of your business. Your business is to follow Me.”

Jesus was never sidetracked by things that didn’t matter. Whether questioned about tribute to Caesar, dividing an inheritance, or why a Jew should ask a drink of water from a Samaritan, He always stuck to the main issue.

We must resist the intrusion of the irrelevant. “…what is that to thee? Follow thou me.” Let’s mind our own business and FOLLOW THE LORD. You cannot follow the Lord while you are watching what other people are doing (or not doing).

“It is an honor for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling.” — Proverbs 20:3
