Nothing … Everything

Nothing … Everything

Nothing … Everything

Be careful for NOTHING; but in EVERY THING by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. —Philippians 4:6

What a blessed text this is! It provides the antidote for worry!

Contrast the two indefinite pronouns “nothing” and “everything.”  “Nothing” is the most exclusive word in the English language—It leaves out everything—No part, portion, quantity, or degree of anything—the absolute absence of any thing. Nothing is a “zero” with the rim knocked off! NOTHING! God created the universe out of nothing. On the other hand, “everything” is the most inclusive word in the English language—It excludes nothing and includes ALL things!

We are not to worry about ANYTHING—not a single thing. All anxious cares are to be accounted as “non-existent.” Instead, we are to pray about ALL THINGS—There is no request is too big for God to answer or too small that God does not care about!

What are we do do with our “cares?” Peter answers, Casting ALL your CARE upon him; for he careth for you” (1 Pet. 5:7).  When you’ve cast ALL your cares on the Lord, you no longer have any cares to worry about.
