OFFICER REINBOLD

OFFICER REINBOLD

Officer Reinhold

“Thou has a name that thou livest, and art dead” —Revelation 3:1

The Washington Times carried a story featuring a police officer named Officer Reinhold.  He would sit in his patrol car at various locations in a Maryland village as a deterrent to speeding motorists. In reality, Officer Reinhold was only a mannequin, dressed as a policeman and put behind the wheel of a patrol car.  After he was moved to a different location every 12 hours. However, someone discovered the ruse and smashed his car window and stole him and objects from the car.  The moral of this story is police work cannot be done passively with “dummies.” It can only be done effectively by real people who are actively engaged in the work.

Likewise, the work of the Lord Jesus Christ cannot be done impassively by non-committed people.  We need more than religious looking “mannequins” sitting in pews.  The Officer Reinhold technique will not get the job of evangelism done.  We need dedicated church members filled with the Holy Ghost actively serving as S.S. teachers, nursery attendants, ushers, greeters, choir members, soloists, Jr. Church workers, missionaries, Youth leaders, etc.

Don’t be like an Officer Reinbold.
