“When ye see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God… ye shall remove from your place and go after it… that ye may know the way by which ye must go: for ye have not passed this way heretofore” — Joshua 3:3-4
When the children of Israel went into the promised land, they were lead by the ark of God, a picture of the Lord Jesus Christ. He leads and we follow him (Luke 9:23).
The monarch butterfly migrates to a remote mountain area in central Mexico in late summer. Scientists have found 16 of these sites, ranging from 1 to 10 acres each, within a 100-mile radius where millions upon millions of butterflies from North America spend the winter. No one knows how butterflies find their way to these small plots of land. Each new generation migrates to the same place. They have never been there before. Something programmed into their tiny bodies directs them to that place they have never seen.
We do not have a “pillar of fire,” or an ark to follow as the Jews did. However, we have a better guidance system (GPS): (1) We have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. (2) We have the inspired written Word of God.
