Prevailing Prayer

Prevailing Prayer

“Men ought always to pray, and not to faint”—Luke 18:1

George Muller was a man of prayer and faith. His biography is filled with accounts of his prayers for God to provide for the orphanage He ran in Bristol, England and God miraculously answering his prayers.

Mueller also prayed for the conversion of five of his lost friends. He prayed daily for them to be saved. It wasn’t very long and one of those friends received Christ as his Savior. He continued to pray everyday for the remaining four to be saved. Finally after ten years of praying, two more of his friends became Christians. The next friend was not saved until twenty-five years later. Mueller never gave up praying for his last friend. He prayed fifty-two years. His perseverance in prayer was answered when the last of his five friends trusted Christ as his Savior at Muller’s funeral.

The Apostle Paul said, “My heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved” (Rom. 10:1). Do you have friends and loved ones who need to be saved? Don’t give up praying for them.
