REVIVAL

REVIVAL

Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain: And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it. —Isaiah 40:4-5

Our text describes what happens when real revival takes place. First, there is a FILLING process— “Every valley shall be exalted…” Revival cannot occur in a vacuum. The empty places of our lives need to be filled with worship, witnessing, and the Word of God.

Second, there is a LEVELING process— “…every mountain and hill shall be made low…” Pride must be made low and we must humble ourselves under the hand of God.

Third, there is a STRAIGHTENING process— “…the crooked shall be made straight…” Wrong things must be made right. Restitution must be made where wrongs have occurred. Those overtaken if faults will be restored.

Fourth, there is a SMOOTHING process— “…the rough places plain…” Our rough dispositions, tempers, and tongues will be more kind and compassionate.

Finally, what be the result when these four things occur together? “…the glory of the Lord shall be revealed…” and everyone will see it!
